Brew Tour

I’m in love with the number of bike commuters in this town. So many people are riding around on these single pannier, double duty bikes. I keep thinking, “Wow. My bag has a smaller volume then their pannier.” My bike tour, when I get to it, is gonna be alot of fun :)

The soreness in my legs has finally subsided enough that I can walk normally with only a little pain. Otherwise my body is in top condition, with a not so beefy, but still defined upper body. I’m starting to think my cyclist tan will never fade, as I’ve been off the wheel for almost a week now with no change.

I finally tried the Snake River Brewing Company’s Pako’s Eye-P-A. It’s one of the best IPAs I’ve had. Resembles Durango’s Modus Hoperandi in that it has a sweet finish, and this 7% doesn’t overwhelm.

The nachos I ordered were top notch. Full of cheese salsa, guac, and sour cream. My favorite part is that when I finished the toppings, I wasn’t left with a dry pile of corn chips. Two very well balanced ingredients.

I retreated back to the camper and slept. Several hours later, when I woke, I headed straight to the library to write my FAQ. It’s incomplete, post any questions you might have in the comments an I’ll be sure to update.

Once again, as if I was magnetically drawn, I had breakfast at Pearl Street Bagels. I just had a couple cups of drip, including their single origin Peruvian, and house blend. I also ordered a Spinach Feta Bagel with a Sun-Dried Tomato Olive Shmear. I couldn’t descibe how flavorful this bagel was. I had been craving something with such a Unami/Savory taste.

Whenever I get somewhere and unpack my bag, it never goes back the same. I’m always trying to cut weight, and balance my load. The better it gets, the easier my day goes, an the more fun I have.

I visited the performing arts center and took a look at their non-performing art.

I visited Mountain High Pizza Pie for a late lunch; not an incredibly personable staff. I ordered the Stromboli. Packed full of New York style Cheddar and the kind of pepperoni you find at the super market, this “Stromboli,” was American as it got. From a bakers perspective, the crust was doughy and uncooked, the crust was to crispy to consume easily.

I showed back up at Snake River Brewing Company and met the brewmaster. Me and four others walked around the equipment as he described the process of brewing beer. He was very informative and capable of answering all of my questions. His demonstration was very thorough and at the end we all had our chance to try a few brews. At this point, I’d already tried everything hold the hefeweisse, and the organic. The Hoback Hefeweisse was in the process of being brewed. The OB-1 or Organic Beer #1 was a darker ale with notes of caramel and a smooth finish.

Afterward, me and the other beer-tourers had dinner and I got my shot at the Hefeweisse. Very drinkable, once again clean finish and the banana taste I’ve come to expect. I also had the french onion soup. It was garnished with chives and two different cheeses. Otherwise a great bowl of soup that leaves you wanting more.
